On our recent studio field trip we visited the ‘Superstructures’ exhibition at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts at Norwich Research Park, UEA.
The exhibition was launched to mark the 40th anniversary of Norman Fosters first public building, the Sainsbury Centre, and shines a light on developments in architecture from the 1960s to the 1990s. ‘Superstructures tells the story of architecture’s fascination in the post-World War Two decades with new technology, lightweight structures, pioneering building techniques and innovative engineering solutions.’
This was followed by lunch in the Modern Life Café, and a walk around the sculpture park armed with umbrellas. After the coach trip back to London we made our way to the local pub to finish the day off on a high with drinks and a BBQ.
