Planning Granted for Oxford Street

Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands’ design for a major new building at 69-89 Oxford Street and 1 Dean Street was granted planning permission by Westminster City Council last night. The scheme, commissioned by Great Portland Estates, creates five floors of grade ‘A’ office space above three floors of prime Oxford Street retail.

69-89 Oxford Street and 1 Dean Street occupies a prominent site on the corner of Oxford Street and Dean Street, within the Soho Conservation Area. The building will sit on the doorstep of the new western ticket hall of Tottenham Court Road Crossrail station, across a station plaza to be created on a newly pedestrianised section of Dean Street.

Councillor Moss, chair of the Westminster Council planning committee, praised the scheme as “pretty flawless”.

The project, due to start on site in early 2015, has been designed to achieve Breeam ‘Excellent’.
