JW3 set to open this weekend

The JW3, a new community and arts venue for London, is set to open this Sunday with two days packed full of events and the unveiling of a mezuzah designed by Anish Kapoor.

Inspired by the Jewish Community Centers of North America, the state-of-the-art cultural centre has been established for the benefit of the Jewish community, the local community and London.

Set back from the busy Finchley Road the building is entered across a box girder bridge above a generous piazza to the mezzanine-level entrance of the pavilion which houses a 270-seat auditorium, a 60-seat cinema, a restaurant and bar, demonstration kitchens, dance studios, classrooms and multi-purpose spaces to host a range of events.

Kevin Spacey, Nicholas Hytner and Ruby Wax are set to take part in the ambitious launch programme of 1,300 launch events and activities, including courses, classes, workshops, performance, film and talks.
