Illuminated River: six shortlisted designs announced
Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, artist Leo Villareal and curators Future\Pace have collaborated to become one of the six shortlisted teams of The Illuminated River, a public commission to create a world-class lighting scheme for London’s bridges along the river Thames.
Presenting ‘Current’, a transformational artwork in three stages, designed to enliven the Thames using dynamic light, the project applies contemporary artist-created software to provide a kinetic programme harnessing the universal power of light and inviting meaningful and accessible public engagement at the heart of London.
All six shortlisted designs can be viewed at a public exhibition taking place at the Royal Festival Hall Southbank Centre between Wednesday 9th – Tuesday 29th November. It is located on Level 3, Blue Side, and open 10am – 10pm daily. Attendance is free. They can also be viewed on line from Monday 7th November at illuminatedriver.london.
