Bonhams takes home major industry award
The new headquarters building for Bonhams Auction House scooped the Building Construction Industry Award for Building Project of the Year in the £10-50 million pound category it was announced last night.
The awards, the ceremony for which took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, are described as “an established and coveted industry accolade recognising overall excellence in the delivery of building and civil engineering infrastructure projects”
Bonhams, entered by LIfschutz Davidson Sandilands and contractor Knight Harwood, was praised by the judging panel, including the AJ’s Rory Olcato, for “an impressive achievement in a difficult urban environment, with operations continuing within the building throughout the construction. They were impressed with the speed of construction, the attention to detail, flexibility and thought for the future use of the building”.
With 18 overall categories the awards are the most comprehensive in the industry, and include the Prime Minister’s Better Public Building Award, which this year was won by an innovative flood defence scheme in Suffolk.
