Bonhams opens its first saleroom in Hong Kong
Bonhams, the third-largest international fine art auction house in the world, has opened the doors of its brand new saleroom in Hong Kong, designed by Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, on the 20th floor of One Pacific Place.
As the first dedicated saleroom created by any auction house in Hong Kong, it is an end to hiring temporary preview space and instead provides the very best and latest in auctioneering expertise. The saleroom gallery is a continuation of the brand ethos established at the company’s new £30m Bond Street headquarters in London’s Mayfair and features technically advanced and highly flexible saleroom with museum-quality lighting and sophisticated online bidding facilities.
Alex Lifschutz said: “We’re very excited to have been entrusted with this prestigious and challenging project for Bonhams. Our design responds to the particular opportunities of this HK destination building, to Bonhams’ rich British history and the company’s exciting vision for the future. We have created a highly flexible, dynamic space that provides an outstanding venue for one of the world’s most successful auction houses.”
The first sale, of Contemporary and 20th Century Asian Art, will take place on 17 May.
