Sitting at the threshold between the higher-density urban plots of the Hilltown (so named because it sits atop a huge mound of Crossrail excavation soil) and the open landscape of Pylon Park, we used this transitional position to create a distinctive neighbourhood. A series of mansion blocks wraps around shared-surface streets alongside three and four-storey terraced houses. Landscaping is woven through the heart of the scheme to foster a safe, liveable public realm.
Developed in partnership between BRL (L&Q and the Mayor of London) as master developer, with Bellway as a housebuilding partner, the mixed-tenure scheme offers a broad range of homes: one, two and three-bedroom apartments, two and three-bedroom duplexes, and three and four-bedroom townhouses. Every home has access to private or communal outdoor space – gardens for houses and ground-floor apartments, balconies or terraces for those on upper floors.
Parklands forms the first piece of the Drovers Road crescent and the wider masterplan. It won Best Large Development at the 2019 National Housing Awards (Affordable Homes sector) and Gold for Best Starter Home Scheme at the 2020 What House Awards.
