One Peninsula Square

The Peninsula Square building will be a new student residential-led mixed use development at the heart of the North Greenwich Peninsula development.

Peninsula Square is a new student accommodation led development providing 820 student rooms arranged in clusters and studios within a new 36-storey tower at the heart of Greenwich Peninsula. The two-storey podium will provide 1,300sqm of ground floor retail frontage onto Peninsula Square, a generous double height student residential entrance, 615 cycle parking spaces and a mezzanine floor comprising extensive internal student amenity use including flexible lounge and study areas, media rooms, games area, gym, fitness and laundry facilities.

Further internal student communal space is provided at second floor with direct access out onto a 2,050sqm lush podium garden, comprising a perimeter belt of trees and shrubs which serve to filter wind and noise as well as a provide a rich habitat for invertebrates, create shade during summer and provide a visual amenity that will be seen from within the student accommodation as well as rooms and from Peninsula Square. Outdoor student facilities have been designed for year-round use including heated pergolas with removable side walls and zones with quieter activities such as study and gardening kept separated from the noisier activities such as event, games and social areas.

The greenery at podium level is extended onto upper floor roof terraces, contributing to the overall appearance of the building and reinforcing the buildings importance and visibility at the gateway to the masterplan. The development achieved BREEAM Excellent at design stage through careful integration of passive design measures in addition to providing onsite renewables.

The tower is stepped in profile to increase its visual slenderness and provide a distinct form against the skyline. Its form is further articulated with an asymmetrical stepping in response to The O2 situated to the north which is the dominant form on the Peninsula
